 Adolescence meaning and definition - adolescence is a state of happiness and achievements more than all the states.  It is also called Age of Beauty.  This is the most difficult period of life.  This is the final stage that leads the child to maturity.  It is a state of abstract thinking, it is also called a state of devotion.  In this stage, teenagers are seen to have strange behavior. They are surrounded by complications. In this, teenagers between the age of thirteen (EIGHTEEN) are kept and hence it is called Teen Age.  It is also called the spring season of life.  In this, teenagers learn to behave in society, think logically and befriend.  Therefore, it is also called a state of emotional change.  It is also known as the transition period.

According to Ross sir - "Adolescence is a recurrence of infancy."

According to Stanley Hall - "Adolescence is a period of intense pressure, tension, storms and conflict." 

According to Valentin - junior and personal friendship is characteristic of post-adolescence.  "

According to Skinner - adolescence is a critical time for the development of crime.  "E

बाल्यावस्था की प्रमुख विशेषताएं

बाल्यावस्था की प्रमुख विशेषताएं -   यह ६ से १२ वर्ष के बीच की अवस्था है। फ्रायड के अनुसार इसे  सुप्तावस्था के नाम से भी जानते हैं क्योंकि इस अवस्था में बालक का विकास लैंगिक प्रवृतियों की ओर से  सुप्त ( धीमा ) हो जाता है।  इसकी कुछ विशेषताएं हैं जो इस अवस्था के बालकों में पायी जाती हैं।   १.  टोली दल अथवा अपने समूह वर्ग के बालकों के साथ खेलना।  २.  इसे अनोखा काल  भी कहा जाता है क्योंकि इस अवस्था में बालक के व्यव्हार में आश्चर्य जनक परिवर्तन होते हैं जिन्हे वह  अपने मित्रो के  साथ बांटता है।   ३.  यह  वैचारिक क्रिया की अवस्था होती है।  ४ .यह  मित्थ्या परिपक्वता का काल कहलाता है।   ५.  यह खेल खेलने की आयु कही जाती है।  ६.  यह तीव्र शारीरिक क्रियाशीलता एवं अभिवृद्धि का काल है।  ७.  यह नए कौशलों एवं क्षमताओं के विकास की वृद्धि में स्वर्णिम काल है।   ८ . इसे प्रतिद्वंद्वात्मक समाजीकरण का काल भी कहा जाता है।  ९.  यह मूर्त चिंतन की अवस्था है।
