Carl Rogers's Conventional (Self) Theory of Personality
Carl Rogers's Conventional (Self) Theory of Personality
Carl Rogers (1902 - 1987) gave the ontological (self) theory of personality. This theory is based on the laws of phenomenology. It is also known as self theory or person centered theory. This theory made important assumptions about human nature. For example, more emphasis was placed on freedom, rationalism, perfectionism, variabilityism, subjectivity, forward-looking heterogeneity and unknowability, and less emphasis was placed on the body-constitutional preconceptions of human nature.
