Multi Factor Theory of Intelligence
Multi Factor Theory of Intelligence
/principle of plurality
Thorndike was the originator of this theory.
According to this theory, intelligence is the mean of indefinite independent and primary elements.
Many elements exist in the intellect.
All these elements are independent of each other.
Just as a wall is made of different bricks. Each brick has its own independent existence.
In the same way, intelligence is also made up of different elements and each element also exists independently of each other.
Thorndike has given three types of intelligence.
- concrete intelligence
- abstract intelligence
- mechanical or social intelligence
Thorndike has given four independent models of intelligence –
- level
- range or limit
- Area
- motion
