Social learning theory

 Social learning theory

The social learning theory was propounded by Albert Bandura.

According to this theory, individuals learn from each other through observation, imitation, and role models.

Learning is the adoption of the behavior accepted by the society and not doing the forbidden behavior.

Social learning theory is said to be the connecting link between behaviorism and cognitive learning theories, because this theory combines attention, memory, and motivation.

That's why Albert Bandura is called the first human behaviorist.

Bandura"s Experiment

Bandura performed the babydoll experiment on a child. For this, Bandura showed three types of films to a child.

  1. In the first film, social value based aspects were shown to the child, seeing which the child shows social behavior with the baby doll.
  2. In the second film, based on love, the second film was based on love, seeing which the child caresses the baby doll because
  3. The third film contained violent scenes in which the boy breaks the neck of the old woman.

On the basis of this experiment, the brothers concluded that small children do not know what they should learn and what they should not, therefore, an example of ideal behavior should be presented to the children.
